First, I’d just like to make a statement – it’s really hard to photograph fish. They refuse to pose, swim away from the camera, and just in general act like total jerks when it comes to photos.
Ok, now that we have that out of the way – I’d like to introduce our goldfish. None of them have names, because I have no idea how to tell the sex of a fish. Well, that’s not entirely true. I named the runt Spotty. I feel like that’s a gender-neutral name and the fish has a spot of white on it’s tail. Genius right?
We’ve had these fish for about a year. We purchased them last fall from Rivers and Reefs, which is a local store down the street from our house. The fish were about 5 inches when we purchased them and have basically doubled in size. They eat a lot.
I was really hoping they would breed last spring, but haven’t had any luck with that so far. Hopefully we didn’t end up with 5 same-sex fish!
